So what would be the best way there from the dupage area. Metra to el, Crazy Dave's drive to the blueline stop idea, drive there but take some weird backroad way? considering traffic will be murder.

I like driving to the blue line better than taking metra because you don't have to worry about catching up with the Metra on the ride home and walking from union station to the red line sucks.

Even if traffic on 290 sucks, you can also take Roosevelt and make a left on Des Plaines Road and the el is shortly after you see the 290 ramp.
