Jorgen Ben is one of Brasil's most popular singer/songwriters in all of it's history.
He wrote the internationally successful tune, "Mas Que Nada", in the sixties; and his hit "Taj Mahal" was infamously ripped off by none other than Rod Stewart.
You like the first song on the first Black Eyed Peas record? They stole if from Jorge Ben.
Some of my favourite albums by Jorge Ben: Tabua De Esmeralda, Tropical, and Samba Esquema Novo.
If you are not familiar with his work, check out his website:
www.jorgebenjor.com
You'll find a complete discorgaphy with sound samples.
PS. As an aging popular artist, you can imagine that he felt the wrath of
80's and 90's cheesiness. But, in my opinion, his live show ought to
wreak a havoc on chicago we've never previously known.
