  • 2006.01.25 - Empty Bottle - Pelican, Russian Circles, Sweet Cobra

    WED. 1/25/06 (9:30pm; $10)
    Pelican label: Hydrahead
    Russian Circles
Sweet Cobra label: Seventh Rule Recordings

Mighty instrumental heavies PELICAN return. They have two full lengths to their credit, Australasia and The Fire In Our Throats Will Beckon the Thaw, and have quickly become one of the preeminent ensembles in underground metal, earning them critical plaudits and fans the world over. They'll be joined here by relative newcomers RUSSIAN CIRCLES, a group championed by The Onion for their "breathless, riveting instrumentals" that "employ technically daunting musicianship." SWEET COBRA will open, supporting their new Seventh Rule release.

This is a great show, but it's too late on a weeknight for this old man...

            Slania IS The Onion.

I'll bet $500 that anyone who has seen Russian Circles in the last year and a half won't be seeing any new songs at this show.

Russian Circles is not melodically proficient.

Will she sleep with people who do? If so, I know a guy named Colin that could use some.

as soon as i told her that i knew them, she got really surprised or excited or something and told me about how she dated the drummer (dave?) for a month

                            she seems nice, though
