  • 2007.11.27 - The Hideout - Free booze event - I'm good at dates

I write some of the snarky captions for MyOpenBar, and we're having an event, and I thought I'd invite you all. I'm not really in the mood to type up an LBE-specific thing, but I'm happy to copy and paste my already written thing to get you drunk.

"So, you hang out with me even though I'm a dick sometimes. To say thanks, I want you to get you drunk. Really drunk. For free. Seriously.

Since I'm a staff writer for http://chi.myopenbar.com now, I get to invite you to this event before anyone else knows about it. Free open bar, free Drambuie, free food, giftbags, and a chance to win a trip to Scotland. You don't even have to listen to anyone talk about timeshares. YOU HAVE TO RSVP AT http://www.myopenbar.com/drambuie THOUGH! AND GET THERE EARLYYYY!

    Here's the event description:

The wayward offspring of the New York Internet darling Myopenbar.com, Chicago Myopenbar offers their devoted readership an exclusive evening of entertainment, refreshments, and the chance to become intimately acquainted with Scottish whisky Drambuie at an all-night open bar.

Party-goers will have the opportunity to sign up for the ultimate adventure: The Drambuie Pursuit, an all-expenses-paid race across Scotland in April 2008. The Pursuit is a once-in-a-lifetime experience that retraces the legendary origins of Drambuie in 1745, when a zealous Scottish prince fled from captivity across the Highlands, imparting the secret recipe for Drambuie to a clan chieftan. 300 years later, the secret is still intact, but the drink is known world-wide.

The evening's entertainment comes direct from New York via MCs Andrew Andrew, live performances from such NYC notables as The Trachtenburg Family Slideshow Players and Gabriel Kahane. Add to this the novel cocktails mixed up by Drambuie, plus a parting gift bag bursting with goodies from your favorite Chicago businesses, and Myopenbar guarantees everyone a rip-roarin' good time.

Free with RSVP to http://www.myopenbar.com/drambuie .

MAKE SURE TO RSVP AND GET THERE EARLY! There are no plus ones, and we'll probably have to turn a lot of people away"

I hope to see a lot of you there.

I have a $4 Bulls game to attend with my lady.

Maybe we can pick a day and you can just bring booze over to my apartment.

Patrick, make sure to yell LOL DENG a lot.

Also, how many more games until it's officially Bulls, lol time?

I think that Patrick, James, and I all live within booze carryin' distance... we should make that happen.

Also, Dusty, RSVP and come and it's drinx on the house all night. If you get there and it's packed and the door person isn't letting you in, tell them you know Alan and then we can meet in reelife over free drinks.

I have already said this but cheap Bulls tickets:

                    stubhub.com +
                    retailmenot.com

Aren't the Bulls tickets cheap because the Bulls are so terrible? That's what my scant knowledge of local sports seems to have picked up.
                      Finish the book, George.

But tickets at retail are still always considerably more expensive than that.

Tickets are cheaper and more available, sure - but face for bad tickets is still $40. And wherever you get them, you're still going to pay more than four bucks a seat.

But yes, they are playing terribly (despite theoretically having a better team than last year)

I must have not been paying attention when you said they were as low as $4. I payed $40 at my buddies bachelor party to watch them loose to the Raptors by 30. I felt much better about the $40 I spent at the strip club later that evening.

                              Tickets started at $6.
Then the fee was like a few bucks.
Then the pickup fee was $15.
                              There was probably tax.

Finally, the online discount was $-20.

The total came out to $8.20.

Buying through Ticketmaster is for tremendous jackasses. I will repeat endlessly that stubhub + retailmenot is the only way.
