LOCUST
DAUGHTERS
CATTLE DECAPITATION
BASTARD NOISE
We're pleased to welcome innovative hardcore band THE LOCUST to the Logan Square Auditorium, for a special all ages show. The group formed just over a decade ago, and in the intervening years have done more than (maybe?) anyone to challenge conventional notions of hardcore and underground punk idioms. Both influential and polarizing from the start, THE LOCUST have done much to defy the expectations placed upon them as a band - most recently by signing with decidedly 'aboveground' label Anti- in a move that many found baffling. But through all of this, the group has continued to confront themselves and their fans, a stance we resoundingly applaud. Manic grindcore ensemble DAUGHTERS will also perform, playing material from Hydrahead full length Hell Songs. While still wholly extreme, Hell Songs is a bit of a departure (okay, a small bit), in that the vocals are more measured and the songs are now twice as long. The results, though, are pleasingly the same and the band is always an engaging, much-welcomed listen. Originally a gore-ish LOCUST off shoot, CATTLE DECAPITATION are now firmly consumed with death metal, and their latest release, Karma. Bloody. Karma., has a crossover appeal that should satisfy both constituencies. BASTARD NOISE will open, bringing a varied sound palette of extreme music that has been a hallmark of their half dozen year career.
