    MONDAY AUGUST 8
    Spare Room Gallery
    2415 W. North Ave.
    8 pm / $4 / No smoke or drink

RIS PAUL RIC is Chris Richards, vocalist/guitarist/electric wizard of
    Q and not U
, accompanied by Dan Caldas (of Black Eyes and Horses) on
drums. On his solo project, Chris brings his unique pop songwriting to
a more stripped down environment, creating upbeat hits for the
bedroom. Fans of Q and not U will recognize Chris’ familiar lyricism,
but the instrumentation is a serious departure. Sound clips and photos
    are available at www.myspace.com/rispaulric

EARTHEN SEA is Jacob Long, former bassist/saxophonist/percussionist
for DC underground heroes Black Eyes, who broke up shortly after the
release of their sophomore album, Cough, on Dischord Records. His new
project explores the dark side hinted at by some of the most ambient
tracks on that album. Using manipulated amplified guitar, tape loops,
and the occasional laptop tweak, Long creates unnervingly beautiful
drone swells as rich in texture as they are loud in volume. Sound
clips and photos are available at www.myspace.com/earthensea

DANIEL MARTIN-MCCORMICK is a young guitar experimentalist who also cut
his teeth in Black Eyes and a number of other loud, fast and noisy DC
punk bands. Since the break-up of BE, Daniel’s gone to music school to
learn the nuts and bolts of true musical composition, but he hasn’t
left behind the flailing, devil may care improvisations of his Black
Eyes days. See what happens when the academy and the basement show collide.

ANTHONY DECANINI is half of Chicago’s own TEN-TON, a two piece that
makes the music of thousands, looping drums, prepared guitar, bass,
and saxophone into a living, breathing machine. Here, Anthony performs
solo on the saxophone, with the intention of creating layers of
rhythms, both improvised and planned. Sound clips and photos are
    available at www.ten-ton.com
