The Black Spot Chicago has been formed with the intention of creating an alternative, all ages, alcohol free, community based space to be used as an epicenter of independent art, community aid, and art education in the city of Chicago. Aimed at offering live music and assorted readings (spanning all genres), gallery showings, independent literature libraries, coffee and vegetarian friendly café food service, independent film screenings, courses in music and art production, and community outreach/benefit work, the space will serve as a safe and productive alternative outlet from the influence of bars and entertainment venues that serve alcohol as well as venues in which profit is the sole source of motive.
